If you’re into both unusual, unique and potential bargains, the online auction site, Collecting Cars, has got something that could well be up your street with this bonkers but brilliant 1966 Citroën Ami which has attracted a bid of just £600 so far and could be going for a steal when the hammer goes down in just six days time.
This 1966 Citroën Ami from Collecting Cars is a rare and characterful classic French estate car, that has benefitted from previous restorative maintenance and is presented in a rather immaculate condition considering the vehicle’s age. This devilishly dapper looking vehicle is powered by a 602cc naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-two, which is capable of producing around 25bhp, driven through the front wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Affectionately monikered by the seller as ‘Bagpuss’, this Ami6 was extensively restored in the Netherlands between 2007 and 2009, with the work said to have cost around £11000, before making its way to the UK, where it was kept in dry storage for a number of years, before being recommissioned and registered with the DVLA in January 2022. It is finished in muted and effortlessly cool grey with chrome trim accents, over red leatherette-trimmed interior, and this is offset by a black dashboard, body-coloured inner doors with grey vinyl inserts, and chrome trim accents.
It boasts a set of off-white 15-inch steel wheels, each one fitted with polished hub caps and shod with classic-style Michelin ZX tyres. With distinctive styling, a wonderfully eye-catching colour scheme, and day-to-day practicality, this 1966 Citroën Ami from Collecting Cars would make a exceptional addition to any assembly of French classics, and a first class ally for weekend cruises, car show visits, and family adventures alike. And with that current bid of just £600, what are you waiting for?
