The swinging 60s is when the automobile had its heyday in terms of aesthetic appeal in our opinion here at The Coolector and seldom has this been more apparent than with this glorious 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray that is up for sale with RM Sotheby’s at their upcoming Arizona auction.
With a guide price of $125k+ it won’t come cheap but it is unquestionably one of the coolest-looking machines available to buy and the dream ticket for any collector of vintage American muscle cars. It has undergone an extensive and painstaking factory-correct restoration; and was a NCRS Top Flight award-winner as a result of the calibre of the work undertaken.
It has a matching-numbers 435 horsepower, 427 cu. in. V-8 engine with four-speed close-ratio manual transmission that delivers an invigorating drive out on the open road. It comes in a beautiful Goodwood Green over a Black interior that immediately catches the eye and this is undoubtedly the sort of machine that will turn heads everywhere you go.
Some of the stand out features of this spectacular steed include the U69 AM/FM radio, K66 transistorized ignition, A02 tinted windshield, and, perhaps most notably, what appears to be a factory-original N11 off-road exhaust system, complete with correct GM-embossed mufflers. The car currently rides on reproduction N89 wheels with striking “starburst” caps.
The restoration of this magnificent beast was carried out by Lonestar Caliper Co. around five years ago and during this time it was prepared for road use, which involved a full chassis service and carburetor restorations by Holley.
It has subsequently seen only limited use; its careful stewardship has continued under the consignor, who acquired the car in 2021. Accompanied by its Top Flight certificate, judging documentation, and research, and equipped with highly sought-after features, this wonderfully well restored, factory-correct, NCRS Top Flight-awarded 1967 Corvette 427/435 represents the Sting Ray at its very best.
