If it’s the ultimate in classy, luxury cars you’re after (and you’ve got the budget to match) then the guys at Schaltkulisse should definitely be one of your first ports of call – as is evidenced by this breathtaking 1967 Porsche 911 Targa Soft Window. Boasting a, frankly gorgeous, Irish Green colourway that immediately catches the eye, this spectacular steed is one of a mere 483 911S Soft Window Targa examples that were produced for North America in 1967. And it’s undoubtedly one of the most attractive.
This 1967 Porsche 911 Targa Soft Window from Schaltkulisse underwent a high-level restoration back in 2007 and it is presented in a truly remarkable condition making it an essential addition to any serious, classic Porsche collector. Originally delivered to Leon C Felton Co. in San Rafael, California via Porsche Car Pacific Inc., records indicate that the original engine was replaced under warranty by the current engine, bearing the number 961558. It was customized with optional features including a driver-side sun visor with vanity mirror, a New York Blaupunkt radio complete with loudspeaker and antenna, and a Talbot rearview mirror exclusively on the driver’s side.
In approximately 2010, the majestic Targa you see before you was acquired by its latest owner through California Porsche Restorations, becoming part of an esteemed Porsche collection in the Southwest. It has been rigorously maintained, showcasing exceptional physical and mechanical condition both internally and externally. If you’re after the ultimate in Porsche restorations that brings the vehicle into the 21st century aesthetically without compromising its vintage appeal, this Targa Soft Window from Schaltkulisse will be tough to beat.
The 911 Targa was launched in the 1967 model year, coinciding with the introduction of the top-tier 911S model. The “S” variant elevated the 2.0-litre engine’s power from 130 horsepower at 6,100 rpm to 160 horsepower at 6,600 rpm. This enhancement was achieved by raising the compression ratio to 9:8.1, increasing the size of both intake and exhaust valves, and extending the duration these valves remained open. We’re big fans of classic Porsches here at The Coolector and this is unquestionably one of the coolest we’ve seen in some time. Like what you see? Head on over to Schaltkulisse now.
