1970 ALFA ROMEO GT 1300 JUNIOR ZAGATO

When it comes to the golden age of motoring, each will have their own opinion but it’s hard to argue against the 1970s sitting at the top table in this regard and this is proven by mesmerising vehicles like this 1970 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato which is available to purchase from classic car specialists, Auxietre & Schmidt.

The 1970 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato has a price tag of CHF 90k and whilst that may seem like a lot to be shelling out for an Alfa Romeo, you won’t encounter many others like this one anywhere else in the world. This stunning steed is one of only 1,108 Junior Zagato produced and it has been expertly restored with no concern to the cost and nothing but the best components used throughout.

Iconic Design Inspiration

This amazing machine is based upon the floorpan of the Spider 1300 Junior, the Junior Z which was first introduced in 1970. Lighter than the production models from which it was inspired, the Junior Zagato was compact, rapid, aerodynamically efficient and nimble as anything. The futuristic kamm tail wedge-shaped body was conceived by Ercole Spada at Zagato. The 1,290cc twin-cam four was taken from the GT 1300 Junior Coupe and was capable of delivering 89bhp at 6,000rpm, enough to propel the sleek Z to around 175 km/h.

The 1970 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato from Auxietre & Schmidt (CHF 90k) left the production line on March 5th 1970 and it was supplied new for the Italian market via main dealer in Modena 15 days later. The original colour combination was Giallo Oro with Skai nero to the interior, as evidenced by the Certificato di Origine.

By 2018, the car had been sold to its current and third owner in Switzerland. Since then a no-expenses spared restoration to exact original standards has been undertaken by some of the best respected specialists, resulting in the astounding end result you see before you. Without any doubt, this 1970 Alfa Romeo is the very best restored example available on the market today.

Everything in Order

With unchanged-from-new specifications and matching numbers, this 1970 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato from Auxietre & Schmidt is accompanied with tools and books as well as an important restoration dossier which consists of a great set of invoice records – making this a pure gem for any Zagato or Alfa Romeo collection.

Priced at CHF 90k, this 70s classic doesn’t come cheap but, quite frankly, there’s nothing else on the market quite like it so it represents money well spent for any serious car collector. We’re loving its bold visual impact here at The Coolector and it’s hard not to be won over by the vintage vibes that this Alfa Romeo positively exudes.
