If you’ve got a love of rally driving and the high-octane world of motor racing in general, the opportunity to own a race-ready vehicle is one that will likely be too good to ignore – especially when said vehicle is as obscenely cool as this 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI “Jägermeister” which is going under the hammer with RM Sotheby’s at their upcoming Paris auction in early 2022. This brilliant looking machine was entered in the 1995 and 1996 DTM and ITC Championships and was the winner of both DTM races at Diepholz in 1995, driven by former Formula 1 entrant with Team Lotus, Michael Bartels.
This exceptionally striking 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI “Jägermeister” from RM Sotheby’s has undergone around €170,000 of restoration work in its current ownership and it is presented in entirely remarkable condition which will make it the crowning glory of any car collector’s line up of vehicles. The chassis has been completely rebuilt by marque specialist, Fabrizio Pandolfi, in 2017 and it was fitted with a rebuilt engine and gearbox – said to have only been used on the dynamometer since completion – by Lindlmaier Motortechnik and Scuderia GT respectively.
VINTAGE RACING VIBES APLENTY
First constructed by Alfa Corse (née Autodelta), this breathtaking 155 V6 TI — chassis number “005”— was delivered to Milan-based Alfa satellite squad, Euroteam, ahead of the 1995 DTM/ITC season, in which it was to be driven by former Team Lotus entrant in Formula 1, Michael Bartels. The campaign started promisingly, with 6th place in the third DTM round at Avus and pole position in the inaugural ITC round in Helsinki which certainly showcased the new pairing’s driving skills and competitive nature. The season’s high point was unquestionably a unparalleled weekend at Diepholz, in which Bartels took pole position and won both DTM races.
For 1996, the preparation of this 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI “Jägermeister” from RM Sotheby’s was entrusted to J.A.S. Motorsport, with Bartels kept on as the vehicle’s driver. However, the season proved to be a frustrating one; 4th place in Helsinki and two 8th places at Diepholz and Silverstone being the only notable results en route to a less than impressive 21st-placed finish in the newly combined DTM/ITC standings. Whilst the vehicle may have struggled on the track from time to time, there is no doubting its race credentials and the fact it looks so cool so excitement is understandably high surrounding this lot when it goes under the hammer in Paris.
Now exceptionally well presented in its iconic and infinitely eye-catching 1996-specification Jägermeister livery, and boasting a rebuilt engine and gearbox said to have only been used on the dynamometer since completion, this sensational looking Alfa Romeo could rekindle past glories once again, not least in the ever-popular DTM Revival and “Youngtimer” events for which it is perfectly positioned for taking part in. If you like what you see, make sure you make a bid on this lot when it goes up for sale in RM Sotheby’s Paris Auction on the 2nd of February.
