Let’s face it, a Porsche is already one of the most visually arresting and stand out vehicles on four wheels but if you did want something with a bit more of an aesthetic impact, look no further than this frankly breathtaking 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S Artcar by Richard Phillips which is going under the hammer with luxury car specialists, RM Sotheby’s.
The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S Artcar by Richard Phillips is part of a charity auction where artists used their talents to decorate luxury cars and it is this offering from Richard Phillips that has really caught our eye here at Coolector HQ. Porsche Schweiz AG and RM Sotheby’s have joined forces on this single-lot, for an online only auction and featuring a Porsche Taycan 4S, the marque’s first all-electric sports car, liveried in the artwork of acclaimed American artist Richard Phillips.
A Real Head-Turner
Opening for bidding on 6 April and running through 13 April, the single lot, which is offered without reserve, consists of the unique Taycan Art Car by Richard Phillips, as well as an exclusive tour of Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, led by Porsche AG’s head of the Taycan model range. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Swiss non-profit organisation Suisseculture Sociale to help support artists in Switzerland who have struggled through the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S Artcar by Richard Phillips from RM Sotheby’s was done live at the Leuehof pop-up restaurant on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse in December of last year. To create the Taycan Art Car, Richard Phillips used his large-scale 2010 painting entitled Queen of the Night – which takes its inspiration from the work of legendary Swiss landscape artist Adolf Dietrich – to the bodywork of this impressive Porsche.
Printed on vinyl and applied to the car with heat guns by German company SIGNal Design, the glorious and visually impactful artwork showcases a three-dimensional arrangement of elements and details of the eight-square-meter painting flowing organically up the front hood over the front fenders and across the doors, giving a feeling of speed with the leaves of the night bloom.
Electrifying Performance
As Porsche’s first purely electric sports car, the Taycan, looks to usher in a new chapter in the car brand’s history. They wanted to make the most of this momentous moment by working together with a leading artist. The result is this stunning 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S Artcar by Richard Phillips, which reflects the guiding principles of sustainability and electromobility and of course also places a strong focus on nature in Switzerland.
By auctioning the work on RM Sotheby’s and donating the proceeds to a worthy cause, Porsche are striving to help the Swiss cultural landscape, which has been hit particularly hard by the global COVID pandemic. Porsche has set a confident course through this crisis and they were eager to give something back to the community. Like what you see? Register your interest in this lot on RM Sotheby’s now.
