If you’re more of a wine man than a craft beer aficionado (as we are here at The Coolector) there is certainly no shortage of delicious tipples to bust out this festive period. Whether it’s a rose, merlot or prosecco that is your go-to, there is a wine to suit every taste and budget and we check out 8 awesome options to try out this winter below:
El Marciano
This 100% Garnacha wine is big, bold, and funky, but also fresh and lively. The palate is dense with fruit, with a long finish and just enough acidity to keep it from being too heavy. The producer has intentionally trapped some of the CO2 to give it a spritzy texture, making it almost fizzy. Give it some air before drinking, to allow the full expression of the wine to come through.
Van Hunks Méthode Cap Classique
Handcrafted using a traditional method identical to Méthode Champenoise, this Méthode Cap Classique, from the South African Cape, is bottle fermented in small batches.
Roko Il Vagabondo Delinquente
The vision behind Delinquente Wine Co is to create easy-drinking, affordable, and delicious wines from The Riverland. The wines are made with grape varieties that are suited to the climate and sustainable for the environment. Minimal intervention is used in the winemaking process, and the wines are made in small batches from single vineyards. Greg lets the amazing fruit do the talking.
Tillingham R Red
A bright and juicy cherry wine, with a slightly effervescent, fizzy mouthfeel. This wine is made in the style of Beaujolais Nouveau, with carbonic maceration and ageing in amphora. It is super fresh and fruity, with a slight tartness that balances out the sweetness of the cherries. This wine is best enjoyed young and slightly chilled.
Chin Chin Vinho Verde
Chin Chin Vinho Verde is a crisp, zesty wine with a slight spritz. It is produced in partnership with the team behind Noble Rot, and is made from organic grapes grown in northern Portugal. The wine is perfect for any occasion, and is sure to please even the most discerning palate.
Love Bite
Love Bite is a versatile chilled red from the New Theory boys. Picked from an old-block overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Love Bite is a fresh beaujolais-style Cinsault from the Stellenbosch area. These old-vines create a healthy concentration of red fruits, soft tannins, and an overall super-smashable wine. Chill down for 30mins before drinking for max fruit
Pot Luck
Pot Luck is a naturally sparkling wine made with the classic South African grape Pinotage. It is grown 500 feet above sea level in red, coffee-stone soil in the Swartland. The wine is full of summer bubbles with ripe red fruits, saline notes, and perfectly balanced bubbles. It is best enjoyed ice cold!
Ancre Hill Orange Wine
A super juicy Welsh skin contact Albarino which has undergone whole bunch maceration for around 60 days before being aged on lees for 10 months. Expect a deep and savoury wine bursting with nectarine & tangerine notes.
