If views are something you’re looking for from a home, you’ll be hard pressed to surpass The Watchman Cabin from Imbue Design, a Salt Lake City based architecture studio. This stunning, contemporary home is located just outside Zion National Park in Utah and it boasts sweeping views of one of the USA’s most renowned landscapes. It doesn’t get much better than this so far as location, location, location is concerned and we’re also loving the minimalistic design of the home here at Coolector HQ.
Perfectly positioned to make the most of the views, The Watchman Cabin from Imbue Design was completed in conjunction with a nature-loving client who was, understandably, bewitched by the area’s natural surroundings after visiting and knew instantly they’d want to create a house there so enlisted the help of Imbue and the rest, as they say, is history. Located in Springdale, the site is located close to the entrance of the Zion National Park, which is famed for its dramatic rock formations and ancient looking scenery. A truly breathtaking spot.
OUT OF THIS WORLD VIEWS
Completely surrounding The Watchman Cabin’s plot there are some majestic, and massive, stone megaliths that are the handiwork of water and wind and 150 million years of deposition and this serves as the perfect backdrop to this pleasingly modern, yet understated, home from Imbue Design. The client made the request that Imbue empathetically design a retreat that would be at one with its unique setting, capture the essence of the place, and resonate with his deliberate nature. Mission accomplished.
Located at the foot of a hill and divided into three volumes that encompass 1,900 square feet (177 square metres), there is a surprising amount of space to The Watchman’s Cabin. These volumes include a garage, the main part of the residence, and a standalone guesthouse with its own kitchen and a small living room. Each of these spaces is connected by covered, but unenclosed walkways so you can effortlessly make your way from one part of the home to the other and enjoy the amazing views that each part possesses.
On the inside of The Watchman’s Cabin, the facades facing Zion’s rock formations are glazed from floor to ceiling, which delivers mighty expansive views of the glorious landscapes that stretch out before them, while more private areas have been clad in weathering steel for a robust aesthetic we’re big fans of here at The Coolector. This earthy tone, as well as the masonry’s reddish shade, take their design inspiration from the colour of the soil in the area. A truly exceptional home in one of the most magical locations in the world.
