James° × VMP Abbey Knife

So far as EDC knives and accessories are concerned, James° are a go-to for us here at The Coolector and they regularly embark on awesome collaborations that fly off their digital shelves. Their latest sees them join forces with Vinyl Me, Please (VMP) on this fantastically functional Abby Knife. You know that sensation when you finally get your hands on a new vinyl record that you’ve been after for ages? The first thing you want to do is get it opened and spinning on your turntable. The guys at James° know that feeling too, and the designed the Abbey for precisely that moment.

The James° x VMP Abbey Knife retails for a wallet-friendly price tag of just $79 and it has been crafted in conjunction with the EDC brand’s friends at Vinyl Me, Please. The Abbey is a small, fixed-blade knife made from a highly corrosion resistant stainless steel, and boasts a real vinyl LP inlay made from recycled VMP records all of which is housed in a top-grain leather sheath. Put one next to your turntable and you’ll always have it handy when those records show up at your door.

SMALL BUT PERFECTLY FORMED

It might be small but the Abbey Knife is mighty. The handle of the James° x VMP Abbey Knife is made with recycled vinyl records that they pulled from VMP seconds inventory, with the grooves provide a natural gripping surface. lts a detail that connects the tool directly to the music. This is one time when it’s OK to put your hands on the record. We know that analog experiences matter, and that some things should never be digitised or simulated. Music binds us all together, and it’s easily available, anytime and anywhere. But there’s something deeper to be found when you hold a vinyl record in your hand and read the liner notes. This knife is a celebration of that fact.

The James° x VMP Abbey Knife ($79) is a celebration of all things analog. Vinyl Me Please and James° both believe in the power of real experiences. In a world where so much can be digitized and simulated for the sake of convenience, it’s more important than ever to realise the value of doing real things in the real world. James° brought this collaboration to life with their friends at VMP and they hope that it encourages you to participate in more analog experiences. Life is for living and can’t be simulated.

We love the EDC offerings from the guys at James° here at Coolector HQ and, as quite big vinyl aficionados, this collab with VMP might just be our favourite to date. Quality design, first class functionality and pleasing affordability make this one a real triple in our book. Classy design touches along with a genuine multi-functionality mean you’ll probably be reaching for the accessory on a daily basis so it’s definitely a good idea to keep it close to hand in your workspace.
