We love discovering new watch brands here at The Coolector, particularly ones on our own doorstep, so we were delighted to stumble across British watchmakers, Iota, and their awesome GMT collection of watches. Making watches for the modern day traveller, these timepieces are as adventure ready as they come and represent exceptional value for money in our opinion here at The Coolector with prices starting at just £265. And, better still, they currently have free shipping on all UK orders.
Iota create watches with simplicity in mind across all aspects of watch design. Their approach is definitely one of less is more. They go through multiple iterations and improvements before any design is completed and this shines through in the quality of their finished timepieces. Their watches are made in the Lugano region of southern Switzerland, showcasing the best of Swiss craftsmanship and engineering by using Swiss movements and adhering to ‘Swiss Made’ regulations.

THE NEW YORK GMT | £265
From the townhouses of Queens, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Flatiron building to the golden shades of Bethesda Terrace in central park, the influences for the aesthetic of the New York GMT from Iota (£265) were many and varied. They drew inspiration from the light brownstone used across New York City. This culminated in a pairing of a tan strap with a golden case, contrasting against a crisp matt white dial that hosts a display of light golden lines. At the heart of the New York GMT is the ability to display two time zones on the dial. This is achieved using a GMT hand and 24 hour markers.
THE LONDON GMT | £265
The inspiration for the design of this model comes from Iota’s home city of London. Classical greys, whites and black colours make up the dial and numerals for this devilishly dapper The London GMT timepiece (£265). One of the world’s truly international cities rich in culture, history, design and financial services, London acts as a global hub for other European destinations. Designed in Greenwich, London, this GMT showcases minimalist design cues, subtle colour pairings and contrasting elements to reflect the ethos and design principals of IOTA; functional but stylish. Machined from 316L stainless steel for superior durability, with increased corrosion resistance and strength compared to softer alloys.
The Sydney GMT | £265
The rich blue tones of the Sydney GMT from Iota (£265) and diagonal lines take their inspiration from swimming pools and the deep blue ocean on the Australian coast. Accented by a pure white GMT tip and indices for easy legibility. Paired perfectly with a blue ocean leather strap the Sydney GMT features a polished stainless steel casing and crown along with a deep blue matt dial. With a battery life of 45 months and an accuracy of -10/ +20 sec/month. The GMT Collection is powered by the Swiss Made Ronda 515.24H movement and built by their Swiss partner in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
The Hong Kong GMT | £295
We’re loving the special edition The Hong Kong GMT Watch from Iota (£295) here at Coolector HQ. The black on black design of this was takes its inspiration from one of the watchmaker’s favourite cities – Hong Kong. A city that comes to life at night with its light show and neon signs. Hong Kong is the gateway to China and the west. A unique blend of many cultures it is unlike any other city on earth; great food, shops, nightlife and heritage and this watch is a celebration of that fact. This special edition GMT features a DLC or “Diamond like carbon” coating that measures only a few micrometers thick. The process involves the surface being vaporised with a diamond-like carbon layer to create an incomparable surface hardness and a deep black appearance.
