We’re fans of retro video games here at Coolector HQ and we can remember just how much effort used to go into providing maps and other bits of awesomeness in the box when you bought the videogame itself but, lamentably, most of todays game literature and artwork will be delivered via digital download and is no longer tangible. It would appear that it’s not just us nostalgic for the golden age of video games if Neutral Grounds Woodlands: Hyrule piece of art is anything to go by.
Neutral Grounds are a New Orleans based digital wood workshop and their amazing Woodlands Hyrule piece immediately caught our eye with its almost obscene level of awesomeness. Part of a series of pieces within the Woodlands collection, this Hyrule offering is inspired by the playing map of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Fantastically recreating the landscapes of that superb game, we’ve fallen pretty hard for this amazing piece of artwork here at Coolector HQ and you can see just why below:
If you love retro video games like Zelda and have a love of spectacular woodwork then this incredible offering from Neutral Ground will definitely sate both those appetites. Made in conjunction with supremely talented illustrator and graphic designer, Alex Griendling, this is exactly the sort of thing we’re very much on board with hanging over our workspace here at Coolector HQ.
Etched on eye-catching maple ply and measuring 18′ x 14′, it will definitely draw the eye and it is a great example of just how retro video games are still just as loved today as they were two decades ago.
