There are certain watchmakers out there that dare to think a little outside of the box when it comes to the materials that they use for the creation of their timepieces and Bremont are chief amongst them. Their latest release, the Bremont H4 Hercules Watch, is certainly no exception and this thoroughly unique offering is set apart by the fact it has been crafted using pieces of the iconic Howard Hughes creation, The Spruce Goose.
The Bremont H4 Hercules Watch is a highly limited offering which comes in three separately priced iterations – these being Steel (£9,495), Rose Gold (£17,995) and Platinum (£24,995) – and it is definitely one of the most striking and unusual releases from Bremont to date and all the better for it in our opinion here at Coolector HQ. If you like you’re watches to be as unique and exclusive as possible, you’ll not find many better choices for your wrist than this one.
Aviation Pioneer
At a time of austerity, one American defied the norm to make the largest aircraft in the world. Famously known as the ‘Spruce Goose’, the he H-4 Hercules and Howard Hughes’ genius was defined by one minute. One minute of flight on 2nd November 1947. In that time Howard Hughes’ vision for the greatest aircraft ever built was vindicated. It’s fitting therefore that the aircraft is being commemorated by a timepiece of the calibre of the Bremont H4 Hercules.
The Bremont H4 Hercules Watches are luxurious in the extreme and as you would expect from this British watchmaker use nothing but the finest materials (including pieces from the Spruce Goose itself) in its construction. A spectacular fusion of micro-engineering, watch design and aviation history, the Bremont H-4 Hercules Limited Edition chronometer watch is limited to only 300 Stainless Steel, 75 Rose Gold and 75 Platinum pieces and is a nod to this iconic flying boat of the 1940s and contains original birchwood from the fuselage of this iconic silver flying boat.
A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of each limited edition will go towards to preservation of the aircraft at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon, USA. Boasting a design aesthetic reminiscent of the 40s style of the aircraft, this watch has dark brown tones which harks back to the Howard Hughes masterpiece of aviation engineering. Each watch in the collection comes with a limited edition rotor that is crafted from original birch wood from the fuselage of the Spruce Goose.
Movement Matters
Using a 25 jewel Bremont BWC/02 movement which is based upon the original proprietary automatic BWC/01 calibre movement which Bremont made in partnership with Swiss movement house, La Joux Perret. It has a 50+ hour power reserve with a 100m water resistance and anti-reflective scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass casing. There is an overwhelming sense of luxury to the H4 Hercules from Bremont and the fact it is made using pieces from the original Spruce Goose is just the icing on the cake.
If you’ve got deep pockets and a penchant for the unique, the Bremont H4 Hercules Watch (from £9,495) will definitely be ticking all the right boxes. Stylish, elegant and with many unique and eye-catching characteristics, it’s easy to see why watch lovers are falling for this new release in their droves and given there are less than 500 being released, you’ll have to move quickly if you want to secure one for your collection.
