Stellavie Prints

Having recently created our own home office here at The Coolector, we’re regularly on the hunt for new design studios creating awesome artwork with which to adorn our walls. The most recent to have captured our imagination is Stellavie which is an independent and creatively led design studio and printmaking workshop. They collaborate with many excellent clients at eye-level and get their hands dirty with silkscreen and letterpress printing.

We’ve got a particular penchant for artwork which is more striking and unusual than the norm and there’s plenty of that on offer with Stellavie that sates these appetites. With offerings as diverse as Rubik’s Cube artwork through to cleverly conceived prints celebrating some of the most iconic movie directors in the world, there really is something for everyone here and we’re definitely adding some to our own line up of artwork at Coolector HQ

Stellavie Cube (Guide) Print – €80

The latest release from this first class design studio is the Stellavie Cube (Guide) Print (€80) which is a celebration of everybody’s favourite childhood toy, the Rubik’s Cube. If you’ve ever wanted a step by step guide of conquering this puzzle, this is the print for you and this guide will teach you all the steps, lingo and algorithms you’ll need to know en route to becoming a cube master. Some say there are 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 (43 quintillion) possible configurations of the Rubik’s Cube so needless to say they’re not all included on this 50x70cm print but it gives you the basis for understanding them all.

Alternatively, others say that every configuration can be solved in 26 steps, or less and the world record for completing a Rubik’s Cube is 3.47 seconds. This eye-catching print from Stellavie is printed on Giclée print / Fine-Art print paper using archival, museum quality pigment inks so there is a considerable quality to its visuals. (€80)

Stellavie Not The Moon Print – €80

There is something about moon themed artwork that we find mesmerising here at Coolector HQ and this Not The Moon Print from Stellavie (€80) is a great example of the sort of thing we will gravitate towards in this regard. It is a pancake, digitised as a high-res, film quality scan, with its texture being applied to a true-to-scale sphere representation and virtually photographed with a 600 mm telescopic lens which has used minimal shutter and small aperture.

In the post-production phase, brightness & contrast, positive/negative has intentionally been kept to an absolute minimum to give it a stark, engaging aesthetic that we’re loving here at The Coolector. It is a silkscreen print (serigraphy), 1-colour and each one has been printed by hand to ensure its considerable quality. If you’re always looking up at the night sky in awe, this is a piece of artwork which will be right up your street. (€80)

Stellavie Landscapes 4.x – €1250

For those who want to push the boat out a little with their artwork choices and love visually vibrant designs, the Landscape 4.x from Stellavie (€1250) is a good place to start. This acrylic on wood creation measures 70x50cm and is a limited edition of just three pieces so move quickly if you like what you see. The aesthetic of this Landscapes piece from Stellavie is all about the fundamental connection between us as human beings and the beautiful and sheer incomprehensible vastness of nature, experiencing something that is way bigger than ourselves.

It is about the experience of being “out-there”, “aware”, breathing, transcending, in the moment, right here, right now. Each one of these is an original artwork, which is layered at various heights, hand-crafted and painted with the finest acrylic inks and pigments for a truly stunning impact. (€1250)

Stellavie Movie Director Prints – €100

As big movie aficionados here at Coolector HQ, it’s inevitable that these Movie Director Prints from Stellavie (€100) are some of our favourites from this German design studio. Just some of the directors to be immortalised in these prints include Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Alfred Hitchcock and David Fincher to name but a few.

The idea and concept for these Movie Director Prints was developed in conjuction with Stellavie’s friend and Hamburg based Illustrator Julian Rentzsch whose incredible drawing skills have been expertly complemented by a vast amount of background information and skilfully set typography. Each one of these striking prints, which movie fans will love, is printed using an extraordinarily beautiful cotton paper stock which makes these prints turn into instant classics, not solely for fans of the director in question. Stellavie Exceptionally Great Espresso Print – €80

Coffee is basically our fuel here at Coolector HQ so we’ve been left in awe of this amazing Exceptionally Great Espresso Print from Stellavie (€80) and its step by step guide for executing the perfect espresso. This engaging and striking piece of graphic design is a large one-colour silkscreen print and an astonishingly compact, yet profoundly detailed reference guide which is designed solely for the intention of supporting you to become a remarkably skilled barista yourself.

Each one has been printed on a beautiful Italian paper stock as it would be an affront to print it on anything else quite frankly. It is a limited edition print of just 250 pieces and has been printed using custom-mixed inks. A great gift for any caffeine aficionados out there – us included. (€80)
