There are certain vehicles that we particularly enamoured with here at Coolector HQ and the 1970’s Scouts are chief amongst them. That’s why workshops like New Legend 4×4 are always one of our first ports of call when we want to sate this appetite and restoration builds like this R800-Two 1970 Scout are the reason that we hold them in such high regard.
The New Legend 4×4 R800-Two 1970 Scout is positively dripping in old school cool and comes in an Original IH Poly Green colour that adds to its allure still further. The 5.3 LC9 engine delivers a powerful performance out on the open road and it has undergone a full respectful restoration that has given this 70’s classic a whole new lease of life and made it ready for the 21st century.
Devil in the Detail
Few workshops have such an attention to detail with their builds than New Legend 4×4 and this R800-Two 1970 Scout is a fine example of that in action. New Legend 4×4’s overriding objective with this Retro build was to restore everything about it to its original feel from half a century ago. Despite that, they added contemporary features but kept them as humble and hidden as they could so as not to detract from the vintage vibes.
For this New Legend 4×4 R800-Two 1970 Scout, they kept the factory installed radio, but fear not, you can still listen to your favourite tunes. They have added a modern bluetooth radio in the centre console, sub and amp included and the breezy AC can be enjoyed through hidden vents. The hubcaps are restored originals, and the upholstery is a replica of the original design. This Poly Green stunner is rolling out of the shop ready for a new life on the road – with a handful of new secret bells and whistles.
During the restoration, all rust has been mitigated with proper and generous anti-rust coatings and sealants and boasts powder coated accessories and trim. The Bedliner has been coated under with colour match interior coating and it has a retro style white removable hard top that means you can put the top down during the warmer summer months and feel the wind in your hair.
Stunning Interior
New Legend 4×4 have done a spectacular job of restoring the exterior of this 1970 Scout and haven’t scrimped when comes to the interior with an array of neat design touches. It has OEM original style IH black fabric with retro black vinyl and a centre console with USB power ports and an original restored steering wheel.
We love the impressively detailed restorations from New Legend 4×4 here at Coolector HQ and this R800-Two 1970 Scout is one of their finest to date in our opinion. If you’re after a vintage vehicle that looks as good as the day it rolled off the production line but with plenty of modern touches, this is definitely the one for you.
