6 of the best British watch brands

When it comes to watches, Switzerland are inevitably sitting at the head of the top table but there are plenty of amazing watch brands from our own shores here in the UK and if you’re after a timepiece with a touch of British sophistication, check out our list of 6 of the best below:

Farer Watches

Farer’s objective is a simple one: to craft great timepieces at fair prices. Born from a love of vintage watches and a frustration at an overpriced market – in 2015, Farer set out to do things their own way by creating a new watch brand for a contemporary era. They reformulated the model for customers to access high quality watches without the inevitable markup – driven by a direct production model, combining high quality Swiss manufacture and bold design at it’s best.

Bremont Watches

Bremont is an award-winning British watch brand that is producing wonderfully engineered chronometers at their headquarters in Henley on Thames, England and one of our favourite watchmakers here at Coolector HQ. The timepieces in Bremont’s core range are all chronometer rated and they are one of the few watchmakers offering a 3-year warranty on every product. Incredibly precise, reliable and robust, Bremont watches are hand built in limited numbers and to exacting standards.

Marloe Watch Company

Relative newcomers to the world of watchmaking, having formed in 2015, Marloe Watch Company has so far introduced six distinctive collections of timepieces; each with its own unique story and soul. From their iconic hand-wound ranges to their very first automatic watch, the Morar diver, the underlying theme of every timepiece lies in quality and originality; fusing tradition with innovative thinking and inspiration.

Pinion Watch Company

British watch company, Pinion make first class timepieces which are crafted for an unparalleled performance. Designed, assembled and tested to exacting standards, Pinion use high-quality watch movements to deliver robust timepieces for daily use in challenging environments. The materials and movements of Pinion watches are carefully chosen for their specific properties and performance capabilities. Every timepiece is crafted using rigorous processes by designers, fabricators, and craftspeople, and assembled by Pinion’s highly experienced British watchmakers.

Harold Pinchbeck Watches

As an independent British watchmaker, Harold Pinchbeck make limited numbers of luxuriously understated and effortlessly stylish watches. The Pinchbeck name has graced fine timepieces since 1710, and today’s company is managed by a family member. Their story starts in 18th Century London, where Christopher Pinchbeck I created musical and astronomical clocks, and invented the substitute for gold that still bears his name. Three hundred years later, a Pinchbeck is still producing devilishly dapper timepieces in England.

anOrdain Watches

The founding idea behind anOrdain is that the designing and manufacturing process should be brought under one roof. Some of their best ideas come from trying one thing and discovering another, and the loop between designing and making is at the very heart of who anOrdain are. anOrdain’s watchmaker, Christopher, along with his apprentice, Euan, hand-assemble every watch in-house and as a result of the handmade nature of the enamel, every dial is slightly different, meaning assembly requires more time and skill than a watch with a ‘mass produced’ dial.

Christopher Ward Watches

Christopher Ward have the admirable objective of putting premium watches within reach of everyone and we’re loving their no-nonsense, stylish timepieces here at Coolector HQ. Tackling the high mark up that is found throughout the Swiss watchmaking industry, Christopher Ward aim to do things differently and offer their watches at a much fairer price point.
