We’re pretty big movie fans here at Coolector HQ and love artwork which celebrates intricate film details and that’s why we’ve fallen pretty hard for these excellent CineMaps from graphic designer and illustrator, Andrew DeGraff. These superb looking designs capture the lay of the land for some of the most iconic movies of the last half century including the likes of Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Back To The Future.
Andrew DeGraff is a freelance illustrator and artist living and working in Maine, USA, and his CineMaps collection of artwork is definitely his stand out offering in our opinion here at Coolector HQ. For anyone who considers themselves a movie aficionado, you’ll love the level of detail which has gone into these creations which showcase the main locations of many of our favourite films.
Intricately Designed
Movies are often so memorable because of the locations in which they’re set and filmed and it is this iconic locales which are celebrated in these CineMap pieces of artwork from Andrew DeGraff. He has created eye-catching, hand-painted maps of all your most loved films, from King Kong and North by Northwest to The Princess Bride, Fargo, Pulp Fiction, even The Breakfast Club.
In each of the CineMap designs from Andrew DeGraff, the routes of major characters from the films are charted in meticulous cartographic detail that creates a visually engaging and memory invoking piece of artwork. Follow Marty McFly as he traverses the Hill Valley of 1985, 1955, and 1985 once again as he races Back to the Future. Retread the steps of Jack Torrance as he navigates the corridors of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Or join Indiana Jones on a globe-spanning journey from Nepal to Cairo to London on his quest for the famed Lost Ark.
Each map in the CineMap series from DeGraff is presented in an 11-by-14-inch format, with key details being enhanced for closer inspection. It is accompanied by illuminating essays by film critic A. D. Jameson, who speaks to the unique geographies of each of the films featured. This wonderfully well designed atlas is an essential reference for anyone who loves great art and great films – and that certainly applies to us here at Coolector HQ.

There are loads of our favourite films included in these impeccable designs from Andrew DeGraff including the likes of The Goonies, Ghostbusters and Predator and regardless of the sort of films you like from Rom-Com to Horror, there is sure to be something with CineMaps that resonates with your own sensibilities.
We’re definitely hoping that DeGraff adds more designs to his CineMaps collection here at Coolector HQ and would love to see some more recent releases perhaps make the cut. If you love films and eye-catchingly detailed artwork, this is sure to be right up your street.
