When it comes to Land Rover Defender builds, there is one workshop in particular that we gravitate towards and that is Arkonik because, quite frankly, few do it better. One of their latest builds has really upped the ante in our opinion in the shape of this somewhat extraordinary Arkonik UJO Land Rover Defender which is their flagship build of their new Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) divison.
The Arkonik UJO Land Rover Defender has a mighty striking aesthetic that we’re loving here at Coolector HQ and it is positively chock full of fantastic features which make it one of Arkonik’s most impressive and daring builds to date. As we’ve come to expect from all of the builds from Arkonik, the finish of UJO is second to none and it uses nothing but the best components and materials throughout the build process.
Life on the Road
One of Arkonik’s most visually arresting builds to date, the UJO Land Rover Defender has shimmering bodywork which comes in a unique metallic Stratos Blue. This is wonderfully well complemented by Cream Pearl on the roof and topside panels, something which has been implemented to pay homage to the original colour scheme. In true restomod style, it is clear to see that there are, of course, a few twists on the traditional and this is something which is synonymous with Arkonik.
The Arkonik UJO Land Rover Defender has race-derived EVO Corse® DakarZero 18” alloys, pearlescent ‘County’ side stripes and hand-painted artwork on the frame – all of which combine to deliver one unbeatable performance on the road. It’s drivetrain has been significantly upgraded to harness the vast power increase which includes Tarox® 6 piston billet calipers with grooved and vented 330mm discs, Bilstein® gas dampers, SuperPro® polyurethane bushes and Eibach® 1” lowered springs & anti-roll bars.
This exceptional offering from Arkonik is certainly no slouch in the performance department and has a lot going on under the hood which includes a 6.2L Corvette LS3 engine which delivers an impressive 430 horsepower. In addition, you’ll find a 6sp 6L80E auto transmission that provides seamless acceleration and the pleasure of those burbling exhaust notes upon downshifting.
Exceptional Interior
One of the biggest things that sets the Land Rover builds from Arkonik apart is their emphasis on providing an interior of unparalleled comfort and the UJO is no exception. It has heated seats in the front and rear, alongside other great features such as electric windows, Ministry of Defender air conditioning, and heating ingeniously integrated within the original OEM steering wheel. Plus, Arkonik’s SVO cubby box incorporates wireless phone charging alongside our regular USB points.
We’re always eagerly awaiting new builds from the guys at Arkonik and they’ve never let us down because they are always of exceptional quality. Their UJO Land Rover Defender is definitely one of their finest builds to date and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for when this lockdown comes to an end.
