We tend to find ourselves gravitating towards limited edition timepieces here at Coolector HQ and the guys at Autodromo are one of the best in the business in this regard. One of their latest offerings to have caught our eye is the awesome looking Group B Series 2 Safari Edition Watch which can be yours from the Worn & Wound WindUp Store.
Visually vibrant in every respect, this Autodromo Group B Series 2 Safari Edition Watch has a mighty reasonable price tag of just $975 and boasts a bold, uncompromising aesthetic that will turn heads everywhere you go. It is the Emerald Green dial that immediately catches the eye and this watch backs up its visual prowess with some great features going on under the hood as well.
Moto Inspired Timepiece
Taking its design inspiration from the brutal, but innovative Group B rally cars of the ’80s, the Autodromo Group B Safari Edition Watch boasts sharp lines, hard facets, technical detailing, which has all been expertly combined with a steel and titanium construction, and contrasting colours that speak to the futurist visions of Giugiaro and Mead. This limited edition offering is certainly one of our favourites from Autodromo’s Group B series of watches here at Coolector HQ.
The Autodromo Group B Series 2 Safari Edition Watch ($975) has an integrated steel bracelet, as well as spring-bar lugs, which have been added to this incredibly striking design. It features a cool looking slatted design, and the bracelet builds off of the severe design of the case, to deliver a seamless line of metal around the wrist for an effortlessly cool aesthetic that makes this a great daily watch.
This decidedly exotic Safari edition of the Group B is a celebration of the incredible African rally races of the 1980’s, which includes the likes of the Paris-Dakar Rally. It has an unusual green-plated mid-case and bracelet, and there is no watch quite like the Safari currently out there on the market. The dial continues the theme with a deep, rich emerald green surface highlighted by lighter green markers and hands. At 6, emblazoned in hot orange the word “Safari” which has been written out in a wild and eye-catching typeface.
High Quality Components
On the inside of the Group B Series 2 is the always impressive Miyota 9015 automatic caliber movement. This Japanese-made movement is rapidly becoming an industry workhorse, as a result of its reliability and delightfully thin profile. The 9015 features 24-jewels, date, hand-winding, 42-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 bph (beats per hour) and hacking seconds (the second-hand stops when the crown is pulled out).
We’re big fans of the Group B Watches from Autodromo and the Safari offering from Worn & Wound’s WindUp Store is undoubtedly one of our favourites to date. Offering a highly vibrant visual vibe that’s hard to ignore, it’s not hard to see why this classy, automotive inspired timepiece is proving so popular amongst horology fans.
