So far as motoring orientated timepieces are concerned, there are few watchmakers quite as accomplished as the guys at Autodromo in this arena so whenever they’ve got a new release, we inevitably sit up and take notice here at The Coolector because, chances are, excellence awaits. So it has proven once again with the Autodromo Group B Series 2 Watches which are dripping in old school cool and will add a real motoring vibe to the wrist of anyone lucky enough to get their hands on one.
The Autodromo Group B Series 2 Watches are the latest release from this vintage race inspired watchmaker and there is a distinct aesthetic to these three new timepieces which we’re loving here at The Coolector. The Series 2 Watches are available for pre-ordering now and will be shipping in early December so if you know a watch and race aficionado who you need a present for, look no further.
Motoring Inspiration
Inspired by Group B racing which took place from 1982-1986 and was arguably the last romantic era of motorsport. It was a time of unparalleled technical ingenuity, space age exotic materials and turbo-boosted horsepower that you just don’t see in the same way in today’s motor racing environments. It was also a time of gladiatorial danger for drivers and co-drivers pushed to the very limits of human endurance through relentless mountain passes, desert roads, and snow covered woodland. These watches are a homage to that golden age of racing.
Autodromo’s Group B Series 2 Watches are a knowing nod to the technical advancement and exotic materials finding use at the time in the early 1980s and each watch boasts a bi-metallic case construction. With a price tag of $975, there are some impressive components to be found with these excellent timepieces including the Miyota 9015 automatic movement which can be found within a lightweight 39mm titanium capsule composed of two parts, which is held to the wrist via an integrated bracelet crafted in stainless steel.
There is a real sense of quality to this new collection of automotive inspired timepieces from Autodromo and each one comes in a hand-crafted aluminium box with number plaque, and the integrated bracelet can be taken off with a spring bar tool so that the watch can be worn with an alternative strap if desired. The overall visual impact of the Group B Series 2 watches speaks to the “high-tech” design language of the early 1980s, with a high contrast dial that takes its design inspiration from a period racing tachometer.
First Class Features
Everywhere you look with the Autodromo Group B Series 2 Watches you’ll see a feature which impresses. Whether this be the Miyota 9015 automatic 24 jewel hacking mechanical movement, 50m water resistance, sapphire crystal glass casing or the titanium and Stainless steel bimetallic case construction, it’s plain to see these are timepieces that pack a real punch from an aesthetic and performance point of view.
The fact you can get your hands on one of these vintage style, motoring inspired watches for under $1000 is nothing short of miraculous when you consider just how much quality is on offer. Brilliant to look at with a real retro vibe that will definitely appeal to today’s contemporary man, we’re certainly hoping to get our hands on one of these supremely stylish and dapper watches here at The Coolector.
