As rather ardent Arrested Development aficionados here at Coolector HQ, we are already au fait with the fine acting and comedic skills of Jason Bateman so our interest was inevitably piqued when it transpired he was making his directorial debut with Bad Words, in which the affable American also stars.
Bad Words tells the story of a high school dropout, Bateman, who manipulates a rule on the American Spelling Bee circuit that allows him to compete against children for the coveted trophies and, as you can see for yourself with the brilliantly sweary Red-Band trailer above, it looks all sorts of awesome.
Bateman will be joined by other comic colossi in the form of the likes of Kathryn Hahn on his journey toward spelling bee immortality so it should be fun filled ride. We here at The Coolector love comedies of this ilk for the most part so we’ve got high hopes that when Bad Words hits cinemas in 2014 and if the rest of the film lives up to the trailer, I don’t think we’ll be disappointed.
