With the architecture projects we’ve featured of late here on the pages of The Coolector, it’s been all about the amazing views that they’ve had and that’s something which is also applicable for the amazing looking Bluff Reach House which, quite frankly, has some of the most amazing and mesmerising ocean views that are about as relaxing as it gets. This magnificent looking property is the handiwork of Butler Armsden Architects, who breathed new life into a 44 year old property on the Californian coastline.

The Bluff Reach House from Butler Armsden Architects can be found situated on a rocky site in Sonoma, California, and the architects have done a first rate job in ensuring their changes were geared towards making the most of the incredible views that surround the property. With the Pacific Ocean to one side and cypress trees to the other, there really is something to be enjoyed visually wherever you look at Bluff Reach House.

Ocean Views

Situated right on the coastline with exceptional ocean views, the Bluff Reach House was conceived for a San Francisco couple who wanted an isolated retreat and the undertaking required completely refurbishing and expanding a 1974 property that was originally designed by Ralph Matheson before being renovated in 1990 by William Turnbull Junior. The eye-catching, almost sculptural, wood-clad home boasts striking sloped roofs and angular protrusions alongside stunning interior spaces which are positively overflowing with natural light.

The Butler Armsden Architects designed Bluff Reach House in Sonoma is the sort of dwelling which immediately appeals to our design sensibilities here at Coolector HQ and for anyone with a love of contemporary architecture and ocean side living, it is sure to appeal to yours too. With a desire to retain as many original features as possible whilst also adding more space to the property with updates to the finishes and decor, a lot of changes were made to the original structure. It still keeps a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, however, which was a central concern of the owners and architects alike.

Re-clad in stunning cedar wood, this magical looking property immediately draws the eye and the Bluff Reach House excels inside where you’ll find windows of varying sizes which do a phenomenal job of really framing the views of the picturesque landscape and ocean. In the dining room of the property, there are sliding glass doors which open onto a wooden decking area, where the homeowners can relax, unwind and take in the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

Contemporary Finish

There’s a real contemporary flair to the finishes of the Bluff Reach House that are aesthetically superior to most and will make it the ideal spot for relaxing and unwinding on the Californian coastline. Each room in the home has modern decor and an earthy colour palette, which does an first rate job of creating a peaceful atmosphere to spend time. It has light-toned, muted wood to sheath ceilings and walls which again makes for a relaxing environment.
