There are a handful of workshops that we typically find ourselves gravitating towards here at Coolector HQ when it comes to first class Land Rover customisation jobs and Brooklyn Coachworks are chief amongst them. A fine example of why this is the case can be seen in this stunning Land Rover Defender 130 Expedition which is both incredibly striking and luxuriously appointed.
The Brooklyn Coachworks Land Rover Defender 130 Expedition doesn’t, as you might expect, come cheap and has a price tag of $150k but given the quality work that has gone into the rebuild, this seems like a fair price to pay for such an exemplary looking machine. Needless to say, the Land Rover Defender 130 is the perfect start for an expedition vehicle. This Defender 130 was fitted with a brand new crate LS3 putting out 430 HP @5900rpm and 425 LB/FT @4600rpm which is matted to a 6L80E six speed automatic transmission to deliver an out of this world performance in the wild.
Adventure Awaits
As you can see, no stone has been left unturned in enhancing the performance of the original Defender 130 and Brooklyn Coachworks have pulled out all the stops to make this one of their most impressive (and our favourite) build to date. Delivering an incredibly reliable and serviceable performance for the lifetime of the truck, the quality on offer is second to none. A Safety Devices 130 roll cage was added to keep everything protected for those more adventurous drives, and a Front Runner roof rack to mount your rooftop tent of choice.
No expedition truck would be complete without an onboard water tank with marine pump and shower, or the luxury of heated front seats, air conditioning and JL speakers so you’ll be pleased to hear that all these features can be found on this Brooklyn Coachworks Land Rover Defender 130 Expedition ($150k). Boasting an Alpine White paint job with matte black wheel arches, there is a striking, no-nonsense aesthetic to this first class steed. Black Genuine Land Rover Boost wheels with BF Goodrich 285/75/16 All-Terrain tires makes this truck sit stout and ready for anything. Black Terrafirma rock sliders and aluminium skid plate make this beast ready for any adventure you can throw at it.
There are plenty of neat little features that ramp up the luxury of this Defender that includes heated seats, cruise control, power windows and AC with the newer style Puma dash which modernise this Defender 130 for longer trips and ease of driving. Much more comfortable and luxurious than your average Land Rover Defender, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better ride for all your road trips and off-road adventures.
Expedition Ready
This impressive looking machine from Brooklyn Coachworks has a Double Cardon front drive shaft / Land Rover Rear drive shaft that will make short work of any terrains alongside stock Land Rover springs and axles. Some of the other stand out features include heavy duty Bilstein shocks and rear sway bar with a Rockware winch front bumper and Warn 9.5 CTi-s winch with synthetic line, Rigid Industries LED light bar and LED fog lights, Terrafirma rock sliders with tree bar and aluminium vent covers.
The final little extras which make this Brooklyn Coachworks Defender worthy of the price tag include the Puma Dash with proper adapters so factory gauges work with the LS engine. There is Dynamat throughout the whole cabin and an Alpine Touch screen radio with Alpine reversing camera with Alpine amplifier under rear seat. The JL Speakers and Subwoofer enclosure behind second row seat ensure audio excellence throughout. The heated front seats and pneumatic lumbar support for driver make it a most comfortable ride indeed.
