Architecture should make you sit up and take notice in our opinion here at The Coolector and it’s for that reason that we’ve fallen pretty hard for the amazing looking Cosmos House from Mexican architecture studio, S-AR. This innovative and eye-catching piece of design is located in Puerto Escondido is made up of three parts – each of which providing a perfect space for purpose.
The main part of Cosmos House from S-AR is a central nucleus which houses the living spaces of the home and this is where you’ll find a bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom. The second part is the external grid of concrete beams and columns that do an excellent job of blurring the lines of the actual dimension of the home, and establishes patios, terraces, perimetrical circulation and an attractive pond.
Innovative Architecture
One of the most impressive features of Cosmos House is the rooftop which delivers 360-degree views of the landscape and boasts a water mirror for reading the night sky and cosmos – a fact that gives the home its moniker. As a result of its seismic location, the Cosmos House uses a structural system that can react in the case of any significant seismic activity coming from any direction.
Wood is one of the principle materials used in the crafting of S-AR’s Cosmos House as it is a natural element that will change over time and add a sense of warmth to the home whilst reflecting the surrounding landscape. To honour the landscapes, local materials that are robust yet low maintenance are deployed. All the water used by Cosmos House is filtered by a cistern of sand and stone, while collected rainwater from the roof is contained and redirected by a single waterfall to be used for gardens around the property.
There is an industrial style aesthetic to a lot of Cosmos House in Mexico and if you’re a fan of this type of building, there is an awful lot to appreciate in this design from S-AR. We’re loving the clever use of space and eco-friendliness of this home here at Coolector HQ and it’s one of the best use of materials we’ve seen in a while.
Retro Modern Design
There are some decidedly retro vibes to the Cosmos House combined with some clever modern touches that it’s hard not to be impressed with. The architectures behind the build have done a great job of respecting the environment in which the home sits and harnessing the natural elements as well.
If you’re a fan of high quality architecture with an eco-conscious, Cosmos House from S-AR is going to tick all the right boxes for you and we can’t wait to see what this Mexican studio come up with next if the awesomeness of this build is anything to go by.
