Of the new names that enter the world of British watchmaking in the last few years, it’s fair to say that Farer are amongst our favourites here at Coolector HQ and we regularly wait for their next release with bated breath. Well, we’re delighted to report that they’ve dropped a series of field watches and it is the Exmoor which has captured our attention the most with its striking visuals and robust performance.
The Farer Exmoor Field Watch is available for the great price of £875 and it is a first class field watch that boasts a textured olive dial and comes with a Horween leather strap, NATO strap and integrated steel bracelet – so you can change up the aesthetic on the regular. Farer know what they’re doing when it comes to creating bold visuals for their watches and their Exmoor offering is one of the best to date in this regard. This is one watch which is built for adventure.
Into the Wild
Exmoor’s dial design is defined by the intricately textured olive green dial which does a superb job of creating a natural feel with overprinted numerals and brushed steel infilled hands in high-contrast off-white SLN Grade A Super-LumiNova for maximum visibility in low light conditions – something which you may well encounter regularly on any outdoor or underwater adventures. The burnt orange date pointer makes use of the Farer ‘A’ marque to provide the ideal highlighter for the date as it moves around the outer date ring, with month-end numbers flipped in colour as a reminder to reset using the quick date function.
It’s clear to see that function meets form with the Exmoor Field Watch from Farer (£875) and if you’ve been on the hunt for a luxury watch under £1000 that can keep pace with your lifestyle, this might just be the winner. Purpose built to withstand the harshest of conditions, the comfortably sized 38.5mm field case design is hewn from316 marine-grade stainless steel for a no-nonsense performance day in, day out.
This specialist industry-grade metal enhances the inherent benefits of regular stainless steel by increasing levels of chromium and molybdenum to provide a toughened steel with unparalleled corrosive resistance. The case is framed by the minimalist lines of the eye-catching fixed bezel in brushed finish with crown protector sides to shield from hard knocks. Inside is the power drive Sellita SW221-1 automatic movement, a rare piece with date hand function, 38-hour power reserve and in-built shock system.
Choices, Choices
Packed into the field travel case for the Exmoor Watch from Farer are three versatile straps all included within the price. These include a tan American Horween leather strap, an airforce blue waterproof NATO strap and an integrated ‘5 row’ 316 marine grade steel bracelet with tri-fold clasp – all with easy, quick release fitting systems built-in – which ensures you have the ultimate in go-anywhere ability.
This stunning timepiece is named after Exmoor National Park – an area of rugged natural moorland in west Somerset and north Devon. Exmoor was designated in 1954 and is one of the smallest National Parks, but it is where you will discover some of Britain’s most breathtaking coastline, steep wooded valleys and expansive moorland. This is the watch for tackling them all.
