We’ve got than a slight soft spot for the video games and technology of the 80s and 90s here at Coolector HQ so whenever these work their way into artwork, we’re always going to be impressed but we’ve seldom seen it done better than the extraordinary collection of pieces from Prague based 3D renderer and illustrator, Filip Hodas.
The brilliant selection of artwork from Filip Hodas is extensive but its his pieces that focus on the popular culture of the 1980s and 90s that have really captured our attention here at The Coolector. If you’ve equally fond memories of the Nintendo Gameboy, Pac-Man et al then you’re definitely going to appreciate these cleverly conceived pieces of artwork from the supremely talented Czechoslovakian artist.
Pop Culture Perfection
A golden age of gaming and tech, the 80s and 90s bring back great memories for us here at Coolector HQ and this selection of artwork from Filip Hodas is pretty pertinent truth be told as most of the pieces seem to indicate these games and technologies as relics, overtaken by more contemporary gaming and society and this shines through in the expertly rendered pieces of art.
Digital artwork is definitely something that we often find ourselves in awe of and we’ve certainly got our favourite artists here at The Coolector (we’re looking at you, Simon Stalenhag and Mr. Werewolf) but this selection of pop culture inspired prints from Filip Hodas has unquestionably forced its way onto our top table so far as our love of artwork is concerned and for anyone else out there with fond memories of gaming days gone by, these prints are sure to resonate.
There is a real apocalyptic sense to the artwork from Hodas and the focal points of each piece seem to have been reclaimed by mother nature for a striking aesthetic that we’re big fans of here at Coolector HQ. There are clever little features and observations woven into each piece from Hodas and we’re loving how he has so heavily featured the video games and technology that we know and love from our own formative video gaming years.
Workspace Additions
If, like us, you’re forever n the hunt for awesome pieces of artwork to bring your home or workspace to life, you’ll find plenty of what you’re looking for with the cracking collection of pop culture centric pieces from Filip Hodas. Even if these aren’t to your liking, he’s also got an abundance of more surreal, vibrant designs that will immediately draw the eye.
We’re delighted to have found another artist up there with Stalenhag here at The Coolector and this quality of body of work is only going to get bigger and better and we can’t wait to see what else this talented artist has got in store for the rest of 2017 and beyond.
