G-SHOCK Full Metal PolyChromatic Watch

At The Coolector, we’re always on the lookout for gear that combines rugged durability with standout style, and the Casio G-Shock Full Metal Polychromatic watches are a perfect embodiment of this ethos. Celebrating 40 years of unrivalled toughness, G-Shock has unveiled a new line that riffs on its most iconic shapes—the octagonal 2100 series and the classic rectangular 5000 series—with a full-metal treatment and vibrant splashes of colour.

G-Shock’s journey began in 1983 with the creation of the DW-5000C. Inspired by a child bouncing a rubber ball, Kikuo Ibe envisioned a watch that could endure shocks by floating within a rubber case. This innovative idea led to the birth of a brand known for producing some of the toughest, hard-wearing watches available. Four decades and countless models later, G-Shock remains a symbol of resilience and reliability.

To mark this milestone, G-Shock has reimagined its iconic designs in a way that honors its legacy while infusing a fresh sense of individualism. The Full Metal Polychromatic series ($580) includes four new models that merge old-school toughness with contemporary flair. These watches boast fully stainless steel cases paired with dynamic colour accents that set them apart from the typical all-steel look.

The 2100 series features a robust stainless steel case measuring 44.4 mm x 49.8 mm x 12.8 mm (w x l x h) and weighs 165 g, including its integrated steel bracelet. A mineral glass crystal safeguards the dial, while a screw-lock back ensures a water resistance of up to 200 metres. The 5000 series, slightly more compact at 43.2 mm x 49.3 mm x 13 mm, weighs 167 g and also boasts a stainless steel bracelet with a one-touch 3-fold clasp, offering the same water resistance thanks to its screw-lock caseback.

Both series feature four pushers on their cases, each serving various functions. The 2100 series stands out with its hybrid analogue/digital layout, while the 5000 series maintains a fully digital dial. These watches are powered by advanced solar quartz movements, ensuring accuracy within 15 seconds per month. Additionally, they connect to smartphones via Bluetooth, offering phone-finding capabilities and automatic time-setting. Other features include world time, a stopwatch, an alarm, a light, and an automatic calendar.

The Full Metal Polychromatic series doesn’t just rely on functionality. The 2100 series showcases gradient colours across the hour markers, providing a striking visual contrast. Meanwhile, the 5000 series features a digital dial framed by a blue/green bezel with coloured text, adding a playful yet sophisticated touch. Both models are available in silver or black stainless steel, allowing for a choice that suits any style.

The Casio G-Shock Full Metal Polychromatic series is a bold celebration of G-Shock’s enduring legacy. These watches embody the brand’s foundational principles of toughness and reliability while embracing a modern aesthetic that highlights individualism. Whether you’re a long-time G-Shock fan or new to the brand, these commemorative models offer an exceptional blend of durability, functionality, and style, making them a must-have addition to any collection.
