Renowned for their Dead & Co T-shirt designs, Online Ceramics was founded in 2016 by Elijah Funk and Alix Ross. The brand’s website and endlessly creative, ever-evolving creations have carved a unique path for Online Ceramics, forming a perspective that has helped to create a truly one-of-a-kind, effortlessly cool, and playful take on the G-SHOCK 5600 for Hodinkee. The 5600 is definitely the most mainstream and easy-wearing model that G-SHOCK has produced and serves as the ideal canvas for the creative, almost altered-state beauty of Online Ceramics.
The green case of this Hodinkee x Online Ceramics G-SHOCK is framed by bright yellow text that reads “Sun Watch, Moon Time” and “Mushroom House Haunted Wagon.” This design takes its aesthetic inspiration from the Online Ceramics brand, which is known for its whimsical and psychedelic aesthetic. The timepiece also boasts a special easter egg: when the backlight is activated, a message appears on the screen that reads “Love Grows In The Sunshine.” This message can only be seen when the backlight is glowing, adding to the sense of mystery and intrigue that this watch exudes.
The G-SHOCK DW5600 is an iconic watch that is known for its durability and functionality. It is smaller and lighter than the DW6900 platform, which has been used for watches like the John Mayer and Ed Sheeran Limited Editions. However, the smaller footprint does not compromise on functionality or hard-wearing intent. The DW5600 has a resin case and strap, mineral glass covering the screen, and 200 meters of water resistance. Inside, it has a modern G-SHOCK module that offers time, date, alarm, stopwatch, countdown timer, and an electro-luminescent backlight. And, at under $200, what are you waiting for?
