It’s clear to see that moving to electric and hybrid vehicles is going to be increasingly important over the next few years as we all strive to make our roads greener and we were recently luckily enough to take the Honda CR-V Hybrid on a road trip to the Norfolk coast to see how capable, efficient and economical they can be. Safe to say, it did not disappoint.
The Honda CR-V Hybrid boasts an intelligent, highly advanced hybrid powertrain which delivers a seamless driving experience between the two power sources and we were left mighty impressed with its performance here at Coolector HQ. There is an excellent comfort to this Honda and for those who like their cars to come with all the latest tech and navigational tools included, this one will more than fit the bill. It handles impeccably and offers a powerful performance courtesy of the impressive stuff going on under the hood.
A Milestone for Honda
This fantastic hybrid vehicle represents a milestone achievement for Honda and the i-MMD (intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) technology that it employs guarantees exceptional performance alongside outstanding efficiency – something which is, of course, becoming increasingly essential. The first thing we noticed about the CR-V Hybrid here at The Coolector were its aerodynamic lines, which have been created around a totally new chassis, which combine to make this 5th generation CR-V a real driver’s SUV that delivers on every level.
When you actually climb behind the wheel, the Honda CR-V Hybrid really comes into its own and the luxurious, sophisticated interior displaying the latest in driver aids and infotainment alongside the comfort, space and versatility that CR-V is famous for. Offering a highly innovative performance, the CR-V Hybrid has a 2.0 litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine which works with two electric motors – one propulsion and one generator motor – which is controlled by the intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system and allows for three different driving modes: Hybrid, Engine and Electric drive.
There is a sturdiness to the Honda CR-V Hybrid and tangible sense of quality throughout the cockpit. It’s not hard to see why this vehicle has such an impressive safety rating and it has been awarded a maximum 5-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. You can easily scroll through the Driver Information Interface by using the steering wheel mounted thumb pad, and it even has voice activation if you prefer. You can use this to choose from a variety of features including: SMS and email display, audio information, phone contacts and even smart vehicle maintenance information.
Perfect For Tech Enthusiasts
Needless to say, we’re pretty serious about our gadgets and tech here at The Coolector and need a car that will play to these needs. The Honda CR-V Hybrid does exactly that and it uses Bluetooth® or USB so you can access information and playlists on your smartphone. You can also transfer your phone’s interface – via Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ – to the 7” touchscreen to access apps allowing you to make calls, plus sending and receiving messages – so you’re always connected on road trips both big and small.
We loved the comfort and economical performance of the Honda CR-V Hybrid here at Coolector HQ and whilst we didn’t really test it to its limits during our leisurely sojourn to the Norfolk coast, we’re in little doubt that it had plenty more to give. If you’re looking for a new car in 2020 and want one that oozes class, is more environmentally friendly and accommodates all your tech, the CR-V Hybrid has got your name on it.
