Introducing the Kalmar 7-97 Porsche E-Volt, an electrifying reimagining of the classic 964 generation 911, blending cutting-edge technology with the timeless appeal of a Porsche icon. At its core, the E-Volt is powered by a high-performance electric drivetrain upcycled and re-engineered from a Tesla Model S. This innovative combination delivers an impressive 450bhp and 660Nm of torque, catapulting the car from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds, all while providing an eco-conscious driving range of up to 180 miles.
Kalmar’s ‘Evergreen’ philosophy emphasises sustainability by reusing and re-engineering materials wherever possible. In the E-Volt, aluminium from the donor vehicle is recast, and glass is reformed, ensuring minimal environmental impact. This ethos extends even further with the debut of Kalmar’s plant-fiber bodywork, a first for 2024, which reduces weight and carbon footprint. The car’s body and panels are crafted from flax fibres, offering up to a 78% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional carbon fibre. The overall curb weight of the E-Volt is a lean 1,374 kilograms (around 3,000 lbs.), mirroring the weight of the original 964 Turbo.
The 7-97 E-Volt also features Kalmar’s new “R-Intake” design language, inspired by the legendary 1967 Porsche 911-R, incorporating aerodynamic improvements through extensive CFD analysis. Enhanced airflow and cooling are achieved through a reprofiled front air intake, while Kalmar’s bonded glass technology reduces drag and wind noise for a more streamlined ride.
At the heart of the E-Volt lies its electric motor, strategically positioned at the rear and counterbalanced by a battery pack located at the front axle, retaining the signature 911 weight distribution. With a 63kWh battery pack and advanced temperature control managed by an Orion battery management system, the E-Volt delivers fast charging capabilities. The air-cooled 6.6kW charger can add up to 25 miles of range per hour, and with the optional CCS fast charging feature, a zero to 80 per cent charge takes just one hour.
Inside, modern amenities blend seamlessly with the E-Volt’s vintage aesthetic. Discreetly integrated features include semi-automatic electric air conditioning, an Apple CarPlay-enabled audio system, rain-sensing wipers, and LED headlights. Upholstered in environmentally conscious, lightweight ElmoSoft grain leather, the interior offers a luxurious yet sustainable experience.
The Kalmar 7-97 Porsche E-Volt is a bold leap into the future of electric performance while paying homage to the legendary heritage of the Porsche 911. It’s a masterclass in sustainability, innovation, and design.
