LACO are a German watchmaker with a fine tradition in aviation style timepieces and whenever they’ve got a limited edition offering out on the shelves, like this amazing MÜNCHEN available from Worn & Wound, we inevitably sit up and take notice here at Coolector HQ. This classic fleiger with chronograph functionality has a vintage style aesthetic that is bewitching and the fact that it is a limited edition merely adds to its appeal still further.
The LACO MÜNCHEN Limited Edition Watch from Worn & Wound has a price tag of $2500 which, for a limited edition release, represents excellent value for money and a worthy addition to any watch lover’s collection. Ideally suited for Pilot watch enthusiasts, LACO really needs no introduction. They were founded in 1925 and were one of the original manufacturers of German Flieger watches. They are still based in Pforzheim, Germany, and are synonymous with exacting quality, exceptional finishing, and real attention to design detail.
Impeccable Quality
With a matte steel case and matte black dial, there is a traditional style aesthetic to the LACO MÜNCHEN Limited Edition Watch which can be yours from the Worn & Wound WindUp store. This is a LACO Flieger like nothing else on the market. It is limited to just 200 pieces and it is built off of their historically-inspired case while incorporating chronograph functionality.
The design of the dial is exceptionally innovative and makes use of bright white for the time, giving the watch a “Type A” layout, and medium grey for the chronograph element of the dial. This is a stand out release from LACO and the MÜNCHEN Limited Edition Watch ($2500) won’t be hanging around on Worn & Wound’s digital shelves for long so make sure you move quickly if you want to secure one of these for your wrist.
The end result of the eye-catching design is that the time is never obscured by the complication, and the look is unique and striking in the extreme. Inside of the München is an ETA/Valjoux 7750 caliber movement which is a no-nonsense performer. This Swiss-made automatic chronograph is the industry standard for automatic chronographs, and is celebrated for its reliability and durability. The 7750 features 25-jewels, hand-winding, day, date, chronograph, 42-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 bph and hacking seconds (the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out).
Watchmaking With Heritage
In the 1940’s, only a few companies were selected to craft pilots watches for the German Airforce and LACO was one of them which is testament to their quality. Today they bring that heritage to all of their watches – including this stunning limited edition. You’ll notice that their “original” series all feature “FL23883” engraved into the case, on the side opposite from the crown. This number indicates the watch was made to military specification for pilots.
For those men who love aviation watches with a touch of exclusivity, the München is going to be a hard one to top in our opinion here at Coolector HQ. Available for $2500 from the Worn & Wound WindUp Store, this is one of the classiest and most accomplished timepieces we’ve seen in a while and we’d love to get one on our own wrist, that’s for sure.
