We’ve got a certain penchant for old school gaming here at Coolector HQ and whilst we love the performance and visuals of today’s modern gaming consoles, there’s still an awful lot to be said for retro classics as well. One man who feels the same is Swedish industrial designer, Love Hulten, who has crafted some of the coolest looking vintage style video game consoles out there and his latest, the ace looking FC-PVM Computer, might just be one of his best to date.
Love Hulten is a Swedish artist who majestically combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, creating unique objects in an unexpected merge of form and function. The FC-PVM Computer by Love Hulten carries on his rich tradition of tapping into the old school cool vibes of consoles of yesteryear. By playing with preconceptions about art and design – the social, cultural and historical relations to objects we all share – he tears consensual connections apart and provides a new context to the products we use.
Vintage Vibes
There are, of course, some iconic computers of the 80s and 90s such as the Commodore 64, Amstrad Spectrum and NES to name but a few but there are plenty more machines of the era worthy of recognition and this FC-PVM Computer from Love Hulten takes inspiration from a wide variety of sources. It is is a dedicated custom-built all-in-one system which combines a 9″ Sony Trinitron PVM-9042QM monitor with an original Japanese Famicom console to deliver the sort of retro awesomeness we’ve come to expect from this wonderfully talented industrial designer.
Whenever we see a new creation from Love Hulten here at Coolector HQ, it instantly transports us back to the golden age of gaming in the 80s and 90s and the FC-PVM Computer is certainly no exception. It has such a great attention to detail in its design and it captures the essence of gaming in the era and what it was like to enjoy games like Mario, Tron, Donkey Kong et al and it’s easy to see why his creations are so popular amongst vintage gaming aficionados.
The two original controllers that come with the FC-PVM Computer from Love Hulten have been modified for wireless operation and each can be kept stored inside the unit when they are not in use. On top of the system, there’s also an additional storage for 8 Famicom cartridges so you’ll be able to dust off your old favourites if you’ve still got the likes of Rocketman, Mario and Yoshi in your attic somewhere.
Unique and Engaging Creations
Love Hulten specialises in creating one-of-a-kind exclusive objects which invariably take their design inspiration from the golden age of gaming in the 80s and 90s. This one-man studio offers a genuine and personal experience through his eye-catching and painstakingly crafted products and the FC-PVM computer is certainly one of his coolest looking machines to date. Everything is produced, polished, and assembled by Hultén himself in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The FC-PVM Computer from Love Hulten is effortlessly cool from an aesthetic point of view and will make for a real talking point in any vintage gaming fan’s collection if they’re lucky enough to get their hands on one of these mesmerising machines.
