Love Hulten Speaker

We never cease to be amazed by the creations of Swedish industrial designer, Love Hulten, and we’ve regularly featured his compelling, retro-gadget inspired designs on the pages of The Coolector and the latest to have captured our attention is the awesome looking Love Hulten Speaker which looks like some sort of contraption from a 19th century carnival and we’re loving its eye-catching aesthetics as a result.

The Love Hulten Speaker was made as a commission piece for the School of Design and Crafts, Sweden, and it isn’t, as the name might suggest, an audio device but rather a striking pulpit for delivering talks from. It has one of the most visually appealing aesthetics of all the pieces from Love Hulten, who is best known for his retro video gaming creations but this piece of designer furniture showcases his talents in this arena admirably as well.

Cracking Craftsmanship

As with all the smaller creations that Love Hulten comes up with, this fantastic looking Speaker pulpit has a real attention to detail in the design and some really striking little features that immediately draw the eye. It is crafted from high quality materials that ensure it looks amazing and stands the test of time. These materials include American walnut and copper which expertly play off one another aesthetically and give the pulpit a sort of mid-century vibe that we’re big fans of here at Coolector HQ.

The Speaker by Love Hulten measures 60 x 40 x 120cm so it’s certainly a striking piece of furniture that would take centre stage in any room and that’s why it’s been used as point to orate from and draw attention to. The sensational design has a wonderfully vintage feel but with some other-worldly style focal points (something which often appear on Love Hulten pieces) that takes the design aesthetic to a whole new level.

Boasting an inquisitive mix of references to inform the nature of the design, the Love Hulten Speaker is a piece of designer furniture which really does breath new life into the classic pulpit as we know it and the School of Design and Crafts in Sweden have certainly got their hands on one of the most impressive and well made pieces from Love Hulten’s ever growing back catalogue of compelling designs and creations.
