Lucid Stead Light Installation

We’ve seen a few impressive art installations of late here at Coolector HQ and we’ve just encountered another that has grabbed our attention in the form of this rather spiffing piece of art from the wonderfully named Phillip K. Smith III and his installation called Lucid Stead.

As you can see from the video above, the talented artist has actually saved a derelict old building in Joshua Tree, in the Californian desert, with his brilliantly inventive and exceptionally eye-catching light installation which changes significantly throughout the course of a day. During daylight hours, mirrors will reflect the shack’s surroundings but it’s not until night time that Lucid Stead really comes to life with a vivid and engaging display of colours which well and truly stands out in the desolate surroundings of the Joshua Tree desert. Take a look at a few stunning visuals of the installation in all its glory below:

A truly mesmerising art installation and one that we here at The Coolector have been completely bowled over by. Phillip K. Smith is an Indio based artist and has had work commissioned all over the United States – you can see his pieces in the likes of Kansas, Phoenix and all over California. He isn’t an artist we’d encountered previously here at The Coolector but you can rest assured he is one we will be keeping our eye on. Impressive stuff indeed.
