We’re massive fans of creative projects here at The Coolector and we’ve a particular penchant for illustrative endeavours and that’s why the brilliant On The Run series from Irish illustrators, The Rusted Pixel, has left us bristling with joy. This automotive collection of illustrations boasts a highly stylised aesthetic that will appeal to those who like their designs quirky and it is some what of a labour of love having taken around 18 months to complete.
On The Run is influenced by Studio AKA’s “Lost and Found” written by Oliver Jeffers and whilst that isn’t something that we’re familiar with here at Coolector HQ, it will certainly be something we seek out if it’s as awesome as the On The Run project from The Rusted Pixel. With a love of children’s books and the illustration styles inherent in them, the On The Run series of illustrations boasts playful visuals of various different vehicles and we’re firm fans of the design stance adopted that creates a highly engaging finished piece.
We’re astounded with how technology has become so integrated into the illustrative process and this is admirably illustrated within this cracking series from The Rusted Pixel. With influences as diverse as Star Wars: Clone Wars, Borderlands 2, Road Runner, Wacky Races and Sunset Overdrive, the eclectic nature of the designs isn’t difficult to fathom. There is such a unique visual flair to these designs from The Rusted Pixel that really does make them stand out and which unquestionably appeals to our sensibilities from a design and illustration point of view here at Coolector HQ. This On The Run series is billed as “Part One” with more promised in 2015 with talk of a Kickstarter project so we’ll definitely be keeping our eye on The Rusted Pixel from here on out.
