If you’re a fan of planetary systems and stationery, the planets have just aligned in the form of this excellent little Kickstarter project from designer, Duncan Shotton, that goes by the name of Planet Pins and, from the name, you can probably get the gist of exactly what it is.
Planet Pins give you the chance to hold the solar system in the palm of your hand and if you’re a fan of useful little bits of stationery for your workspace then these are patently going to be right up your street. Give your home or office a touch of interstellar awesomeness with these cracking pins and judging by their popularity over on Kickstarter, we’re not alone in loving them here at Coolector HQ.
Planetary Perfection
The quality craftsmanship that has gone into this Planet Pins from Duncan Shotton is impressive and there is a sprinkle of stardust to the design that you’re going to love if you’re a fan of the various planets in our solar system. The 8 planet shapes not only look the part but are made in the right way too. With each planted moulded in the UK over german-made, black steel pins, then sent to Tokyo where they are meticulously hand-painted and put together into their serial-numbered, polished-acrylic display cases for the polished finished product you see before you.
Top quality visuals alongside high quality craftsmanship make these Planet Pins are real winner in our books here at Coolector HQ and the fact they are doing so well on Kickstarter is testament to the fact there is a big market for planetary themed stationery out there. Additionally, these pins are available in single moon varieties for those who just favour are celestial buddy and we’re big fans of this pin here at The Coolector as they are hand cast in concrete for the additional level of authenticity.
These Planet Pins funding on Kickstarter now aren’t going to change the world but if you’ve got a thing for our celestial neighbours and super cool stationery, they’re certainly going to tick all of the right boxes and we’re big fans of the attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship here at The Coolector.
Cracking Craftsmanship
It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into these pins from Duncan Shotton and despite their diminutive stature, they’ve got a lot going under in the design department. Using enamel paints and small model-making brushes and finishing each pin with a final coat of clear, semi-gloss lacquer for a more consistent and robust finish, it’s hard not to be won over by the quality on offer here. Each pin is then put together (or ‘put into orbit’) into their display case, and this is stamped on the base with a unique serial number.
With plenty of time to still get behind this corking project over on Kickstarter, for those of you with a love of the various planets in our solar system and in requirement of pins, this is one campaign that you’re going to want to throw your money at.
