If you’ve ever watched Minority Report starring Tom Cruise, based on the Phillip K Dick short story, then you’ll want to stop what you’re doing for a moment and sit up and take notice of a rather exceptional looking piece of kit that has just come to our attention which goes by the name of Polar.
As the video above alludes to, Polar is an interactive content presenter which has been designed by Lab 101 to be showcased to a young and tech savvy (they’re going to need to be by the looks of it) audience at Hellospace in Brussels, Belgium. We’ve been waiting patiently for technology to catch up with our favourite bits and pieces we’ve seen in the movies and the gadgetry inherent in Minority Report is definitely amongst our most favoured so we were delighted when we stumbled across this potential game-changer in the form of Polar.
The device is controlled by tablet technology and utilises Leap motion sensor and Cinder to control four HD projectors against an large circular screen and, as you can see from the video above, it bears more than a passing resemblance to Tom Cruise tackling the technology in Minority Report – a fact that ramps up its appeal to us at Coolector HQ exponentially. Check out a few more shots of the Polar interactive content presenter below:
Whilst there’s no hint that this sort of technology will become mainstream any time soon, it’s certainly encouraging to see that it’s coming closer and closer to fruition and we’re mightily excited about the potential of having Minority Report-esque technology knocking about Coolector HQ in the not too distant future.
