Prince Avalanche

There’s quite a few films that I’m looking forward to being overcharged to see over the next few months but there’s one in particular that I’m more excited about than most and that, sir, is Prince Avalanche. Starring one of my favourite comedic actors in the form of Paul Rudd and directed by Eastbound and Down (one of my all-time favourite shows) helmster, David Gordon Green, the movie went down a storm at the Sundance Movie Festival and, perhaps more importantly, I think it looks great too.

The film is a remake of the Icelandic movie, Either Way, and we all know that Icelanders are famed for their fine film making heritage (probably) so it was destined to be a success right from the get-go. It tells the story of Alvin (Paul Rudd) and his girlfriend’s brother Lance (Emile Hirsch) as they get to grips with nature and pit wits against one another in the backdrop of a summer spent painting yellow lines down the centre of a fire-ravaged highway. Whilst this may not sound as riveting as John Maclane pissing about in Russia and discovering his son there or whatever that Die Hard monstrosity entailed, the trailer above for Prince Avalanche should definitely showcase plenty of reasons why you should be watching this awesome looking independent film when it is released in August.

The main reason probably being the scene of painting one’s boot with poisonous paint.
