Sunglasses come in many different shapes, sizes and materials but we’re always amazed when brands think outside the box and find new and engaging ways of crafting wares and that’s the current situation here at Coolector HQ after stumbling across Shwood’s latest and rather excellent sunglasses that are made from repurposed newspaper.
Shwood Repurposed Newspaper Sunglasses originally started out as an experiment, purely to see if it could be done, but soon turned into a fully fledged series of sunglasses from the top notch American accessory brand when the awesomeness of the finished product became all too apparent. These eye-catching sunglasses have been crafted using proprietary techniques – 1600 feet of newsprint is wound up into a 4-inch diameter “log” – which is then used to craft the frame of the sunglasses.
If you’re in the market for an unusual and unique pair of sunglasses as we head into spring, we’re willing to wage that you’ll not find many more fitting for the job than these Repurposed Newspaper Sunglasses from Shwood. Once the newspaper has been repurposed, it is sliced into thin sections that looks to have the texture and appearance of wood and this is very much in keeping with the previous collection of sunglasses from Shwood – check out a few more shots of their latest series below:

We love innovation here at The Coolector and love the fact that this latest series of sunglasses from Shwood started out as an experiment – though it was in little doubt that they would end up looking awesome. Striking design coupled with effortless cool and a genuine unique selling point really do make these sunglasses stand out from the crowd and we dare say there will be plenty of chaps sporting a pair this summer.
