Lakeside living is something which unquestionably appeals to our sensibilities here at The Coolector and that’s why so many of the amazing pieces of architecture that we feature on our pages often sit alongside a body of water and so it has proven once again with the Sky House from architects, Julia Jamrozik and Coryn Kempster, which can be found nestled on Stoney Lake in Canada and boasts a highly distinctive aesthetic to say the least.
Situated high on the slopes surrounding Canada’s Stoney Lake, the Sky House from Julia Jamrozik and Coryn Kempster really is one of those pieces of architecture that you can’t take your eyes off and the bold design aesthetic is coupled with a minimalistic interior to deliver the ultimate in contemporary living spaces. Consisting of two rectangular structures, one cantilevered above the other, with the upper one bridging itself over the lower one, the unusual nature of the design will immediately draw the eye.
Luxurious Design
The Sky House is a holiday home that has an unparalleled location with an amazing view out over the lake and one of the coolest, minimalistic interiors we’ve seen in a while here at The Coolector. This amazing piece of architecture from Julia Jamrozik and Coryn Kempster has the bedrooms on the ground floor while the upper floor are where you’ll find the public areas of living that overlook the lake – which makes sense because it would be a shame not to make the most of the spectacular vistas right on this property’s doorstep.
As it’s a holiday home that’s not lived in all the time, the architects decided to use robust, easy to look after materials such as reflective standing seam metal roofing and petrified wood to clad the exterior of the glorious looking Sky House on the shores of Stoney Lake in Canada. The interiors of the property are bathed in natural light and within the main living space there are vertical skylights and south-facing windows alongside sliding glass doors which maximise the daylight.
Clever uses of colour abound throughout and, in the living space, white walls and ceilings are paired with a bold, vibrant peacock blue, including a glazed brick socle that holds the wood stove. This eye-catching aesthetic certainly suits our own interior design tastes at Coolector HQ and the use of opposing colours and visuals is something which does a great job of bringing the living spaces in Sky House to life.
Relax And Unwind
There is something about being next to water that is immediately relaxing and will help the stresses and strains of modern living melt away and that’s why this Sky House is so aspirational. Combining amazing architecture and interior design with a superb lake side location make it something that is going to appeal to more or less everyone and there is clearly a lot of thought and attention to detail that has gone into each element of the design process.
If you love the thought of having a stunning holiday home on a lake (who doesn’t?) then chances are you’ll be taking plenty of design tips from this brilliantly designed and crafted Sky House from Canadian architects Julia Jamrozik and Coryn Kempster. Modern, stylish and a perfect fit for its surroundings, it’s hard not to be won over by every element of this cracking piece of architectural design on the shores of Lake Stoney.
