For those of us with a penchant for two-wheeled adventures, the quest for the perfect do-it-all bike can feel like an endless pursuit. But hold your horses (or rather, your handlebars), because the State Bicycle Co 4130 All-Road Bike in the rather fetching Dromedary Tan might just be the trusty steed you’ve been searching for. Clocking in at a very reasonable $999.99 (that’s roughly £800 for our UK cycling enthusiasts), this machine is ready to tackle everything from gnarly gravel paths to smooth city streets, and pretty much everything in between. Adventure, it seems, just got a significant upgrade.

The beauty of the 4130 All-Road lies in its impressive versatility, combining cutting-edge gravel technology with a price point that won’t leave your wallet feeling too deflated. At its heart is a fully revamped 4130 Chromoly Steel Frame, a material renowned for its durability, comfortable ride quality, and ability to handle the bumps and scrapes that come with a life of adventure. This isn’t some flimsy, disposable bike; it’s built to last. State Bicycle Co has thoughtfully updated the frame with Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) compatibility, making it future-proof and easy to find replacement parts. It’s also dropper-ready for those who like to get a little rowdy on the descents, and features semi-internal cable routing for a cleaner look and to keep those cables out of harm’s way.

But the adaptability doesn’t stop there. The 4130 All-Road boasts wider tire clearance, allowing you to run tires up to a generous 2.4″ when using 650b wheels. This opens up a world of possibilities, from tackling chunky gravel to bikepacking adventures on more technical terrain. And speaking of versatility, the frame is also equipped with a plethora of mounting points, ready to accommodate three water bottles for those long rides, as well as racks, fenders, and other accessories for commuting or multi-day expeditions.

State Bicycle Co understands that one size (or one wheel size) doesn’t fit all. That’s why they offer the 4130 All-Road with a choice of 700c wheels paired with semi-slick Vittoria Terreno Zero tires (38mm) for faster rolling on mixed surfaces, or 650b wheels with knobby Vittoria Barzo tires (2.1″) for enhanced grip and comfort on rougher terrain. For the truly indecisive (or those who simply want the best of both worlds), you can even opt for both wheelsets at a reduced price of $299.99, essentially giving you two bikes in one for less than the cost of many standalone wheel upgrades. This bundle includes everything you need for seamless switching – wheels, tires, tubes, rotors, and cassette.

The cockpit of the 4130 All-Road has also been updated with a new gravel bar featuring a comfortable 33° flare, providing extra stability and control when things get a bit hairy. Braking duties are handled by reliable cable-actuated hydraulic disc brakes with compressionless housing, offering consistent and powerful stopping performance in all weather conditions. The bike is propelled by State Bicycle Co’s own 12-speed drivetrain, featuring a 40t direct mount chainring and an 11-46t cassette, providing a wide range of gears for tackling steep climbs and fast descents. For those seeking even more climbing prowess, an 11-50t cassette upgrade is also available.

For riders looking to further enhance their experience, State Bicycle Co offers a range of tempting upgrades. You can opt for the lightweight Carbon Fiber “Monster Fork” which not only saves over 1.25 lbs but also features a geometry-altering “flip-chip” for even greater versatility. For those who crave maximum comfort on rough terrain, there’s an All-Road Suspension Fork with 40mm of travel. And for the tech-savvy riders, SRAM AXS electronic shifting is also an option. Even the wheels can be upgraded to DT Swiss alloy or high-end ENVE AG Series wheels. With a maximum tire clearance of up to 45mm with 700c wheels (or even wider with the Monster Fork) and 2.4″ with 650b wheels, the State Bicycle Co 4130 All-Road in Dromedary Tan is a truly adaptable and capable machine that’s ready to take on whatever adventure you have in mind. It’s a whole lot of bike for the money, and it’s just begging to get out and explore.
