Watches are our weakness at The Coolector. We invariably dedicate vast swathes of our day to poring over them online and looking for new and exciting watchmakers to drool over and when we find one that is right up our street, it’s only proper that we shout from the rooftops about it and that is the case with the superb looking limited edition luxury Sunray Flieger Watches, which have been painstakingly crafted to a mightily impressive finished product by a California based horology aficionado by the name of John Beck McConnico.
We’ve certainly got a particular taste when it comes to timepieces and these Sunray Flieger watches hit the nail squarely on the head in this regard. McConnico is a visual designer who resides in San Francisco and who has a not insignificant love of all things horology and this served as his catalyst for wanting to create his own series of timepieces and, through this desire, the Sunray Flieger Watches you see before you was born.
The project to create a series of three timepieces is, essentially, an amalgamation of curated wristwatch elements based on an original objective of creating a watch just for himself but it soon became abundantly clear that the Sunray Flieger watches that he had produced were far too exemplary to be kept to oneself and McConnico set about creating a series of limited edition timepieces inspired by Flieger pilot and chronograph watches and we here at Coolector HQ are mightily glad he did because the end result is a highly desirable and impeccably stylish wristwatch.
Impressive features abound beneath the hood of the Sunray Flieger watches that McConnico has produced. The movement is the ever-reliable 6497 manual movement, a solid 316L stainless steel casing with brushed finish, metallic sunray finish dial which is available in French Blue or Anthracite Black, tan padded leather strap with white stitching and a whole host of other specifications that make it clear that these Sunray Flieger watches are a rather rare breed of luxury coupled with affordability and we’re extremely enamoured with both the engineering prowess and aesthetic appeal of these spectacular timepieces here at The Coolector. Feast your eyes on a few more shots below:
The aviation style design of these first rate watches certainly appeals to us at The Coolector and for those out there who have a thing for the likes of Bell & Ross, Bremont and IWC watches, there will be plenty to enjoy in these brilliantly crafted Sunray Flieger watches from John McConnico. We experience an unbridled joy when we encounter a new watchmaker at The Coolector and when they are as fantastic as this, it is extremely heartening to see.
The world of watchmaking is an outrageously competitive one so it’s a breath of fresh air to see a watchmaker who originally had the intention of just making a watch for himself end up making a whole series because they were just too good not to carry on making. Combining fantastic materials with a flair for design and a dedication to produce a genuinely first class product, McConnico is unquestionably on to a winner with his Sunray Flieger watches and we can’t wait to see what’s next for this talented designer.
