It is alarming how much of a detrimental impact the world of fast fashion has on the environment so it’s always good to see menswear brands aiming to play their part in helping to lessen this impact with a more sustainable manufacturing process. One of the coolest brands we’ve seen in a while in this regard is that of UK based brand, Sutsu, and their first class line up of apparel which ranges from tees to hoodies and boasts the sort of striking, nature inspired designs that we’re always big fans of here at Coolector HQ.
Sutsu has had sustainability in mind since they first began and this makes them a menswear brand you can feel good about adding to your wardrobe rotation in our opinion. Since day one they have strived to be a progressive streetwear brand for those of us who actively engage with our environment, and Sutsu have always aspired to have a positive impact on the planet. When considering the name, they looked to Japan’s genuine respect for nature – sutsu 節 ritually means the transition between two seasons – this led us to the idea that we are all accountable for what we do next and this shines through in all of their top notch apparel.
CLOTHING YOU CAN FEEL GOOD ABOUT
Fast fashion has rapidly emerged as one of world’s biggest environmental issues. Since launching Sutsu as an ethical skate and surf brand back in 2004, they have always aimed to be accountable for their actions because they see themselves as part of this industry, and have felt the need to support change. Fast forward to 2021 and Sutsu are forever looking for ways to improve: and one of the main ways they do this is by ensuring they now hold no stock and only produce a Sutsu garment when you purchase it from their digital shelves.
Sutsu only use organic cotton and or recycled fibres for all they apparel which are built to go slow and that’s something definitely worth applauding in our opinion here at The Coolector. The excellent selection of Sutsu T-shirts are made to be worn in (and out) and they are never prouder than when they see a design from 10 years ago walk past them on the street. If you’re serious about playing your part in helping reduce the impact the fashion industry has on the environment, supporting brands like Sutsu is the perfect place to start. And the fact their gear looks great certainly doesn’t hurt either.
At Sutsu, it is their aim to always be fully transparent about their clothing and manufacturing techniques. From being open about how their clothes are made, to how much they cost to make, Sutsu will always tell it like it is and that is pretty refreshing in an industry which is typically all about quantity over quality. They figure as long as they make organic streetwear clothes that you love – which allows them to help fund environmental projects that they are passionate about – then there’s nothing to hide. After some great looking, green menswear for your wardrobe in 2022, head on over to Sutsu now.
