Now that the weather is being decidedly uncooperative in keeping warm, jackets and outerwear are at the forefront of our thinking here at Coolector HQ and, as always, Taylor Stitch are one of our first ports of call when it comes to finding some of the best in the business. So it has proved again with the superb looking Taylor Stitch Tomales Coat which is undoubtedly one of the classiest jackets that you can get in your closet for 2019.
The Taylor Stitch Tomales Coat has a price tag of $798 which whilst unquestionably pricey, is justified by the quality materials and craftsmanship that goes into each and every one of these eye-catching jackets. The Tomales Coat from Taylor Stitch is hand made in San Francisco by long time collaborators, Golden Bear, and the quality of this garment really is tangible from the first minute that you pull it on.
Winter Warmer
This limited edition Tomales Coat from Taylor Stitch will see only 100 being released so you’ll need to move quickly if you want to secure one of your own. Regardless of whether you call it a duffel coat, a toggle coat, or another of the many nicknames it’s earned over the years, the design upon which Taylor Stitch modelled this Tomales Coat has been in use since the 1800s when it first gained traction among European sailors. Though its constituent features — wooden toggle fasteners (designed for ease of use while wearing gloves), spacious integrated hood, and buttonable neck strap — are instantly recognizable, there’s still something unquestionably visually striking about this time-tested icon.
Taylor Stitch saw no reason to mess about with the fundamentals when it came to designing the Tomales Jacket ($798), and focused instead on refinement by way of the use of high end materials combined with Golden Bear’s entirely peerless craftsmanship skills. Anything but precious, the fact that there will only be 100 of these in existence means that the Tomales Duffel Coat from Taylor Stitch is likely to become a prized artefact of American Style and the perfect winter warmer for those looking for a robust, stylish jacket this festive period.
Despite its smooth texture and elegant and sophisticated appearance, the melton wool used in the Tomales Coat from Taylor Stitch is very hard-wearing and weather-resistant. The stylish 24-oz melton, sourced for the Tomales has been enhanced with a Thinsulate™ layer and a cotton/polyester lining for additional insulation, while leather accents reinforce the sleeves and welt pockets. As per tradition, natural wooden toggles run down the front of the jacket to offset the rich loden colour of the wool.
Brilliant Style & Comfort
As you would expect from a piece of outerwear in this price bracket, the style, comfort and craftsmanship of the Tomales Coat from Taylor Stitch is beyond compare. Gloriously well made and boasting impeccable materials, it’s a stand out piece of outerwear which will become a cornerstone piece of your wardrobe. With only 100 being made available to buy, it goes without saying that this jacket won’t be around on the shelves for long so time really is of the essence with this one.
Small batch releases like this are something that we love here at Coolector HQ and for those of you after an heirloom jacket of the quality that you can pass from one generation to the next, the Tomales Coat from Taylor Stitch more than fits the bill. Supremely well made with nothing but the best materials, it’s easy to see why this is such a well regarded piece of outerwear made in collaboration with Golden Bear in San Francisco.
