It goes without saying that there are so many different styles of timepiece to choose from out there and we will all have our own sense of style that factors into our watch buying mindset. Here at Coolector HQ we tend to gravitate towards the minimal, understated accessories but ones that have something about them aesthetically and that’s why we love the timepieces of NYC based, Throne, who have one of the finest array of watches on the market and something to suit every style persuasion.
Throne Watches are relative newcomers to the world of watchmaking (in the grand scheme of things) and started peddling their magnificent wares back in 2013. It started with them making awesome looking, bespoke leather watch bands for existing timepieces from their kitchen table in a small East Village apartment. Well, they’ve come a long way in a short space of time and now have their own large collection of stylish, minimalistic timepieces from which to choose and if you’re after a classy accessory for your wrist in 2019 that doesn’t break the bank, look no further.
King of Watches
At its heart, Throne are a boutique watch company that boasts a strong focus on delivering utilitarian style. They have, understandably, become obsessed with the timelessness of classic timepieces and this is something which shines through in all their creations. They saw the chance in the market to release an ethically produced, high quality timepiece at an affordable price and launched their flagship watch, the 1.0, in early 2014 with those intentions in mind – fast forward five years and they now have one of the most impressive line up of watches out there.
Throne Watches boast a mighty impressive line up of watch releases (not to mention some awesome collaboration projects with other brands) and you can check out some of our favourite timepiece releases from this New York watchmaker below:
Throne Antenna Watches – $395
A timepiece that fans of the brand have been asking for and they delivered. The Throne Antenna Watch ($395) is named after one of the brand’s favourite Cave In album’s, The Antenna. The 1.0 Antenna Watch from Throne boasts an all-silver case, markers, and hand set. It’s a limited edition offering with just 50 being made and it is also available in stainless steel. As always with Throne, the Antenna is designed in Brooklyn and built in the United States. ($395)
Throne Fragment 1.0 Watch – $395
A mighty classy looking timepiece, the Fragment 1.0 Watch from Throne ($395) is definitely a favourite of ours here at Coolector HQ. These eye-catching watches uses beautiful domed anti-scratch sapphire crystal which gives the Fragment 1.0 an amazing depth and just the right amount of weight on your wrist. The clarity of the crystal gives the dial a look of almost high definition. And at only 8mm thick the 1.0 has a low enough profile to fit comfortably under a button down shirt or denim jacket. Another limited edition offering that is selling fast. ($395)
Throne Tune 2.0 Watch – $495
Another majestic looking American made timepiece, the Throne Tune 2.0 Watch ($495) is quality from top to bottom and one of our favourites to date from the New York based watchmakers. This top notch timepiece has a Swiss Ronda 5030D Quartz Movement with Chronometer and date wheel, a custom built dial with pie-panned subdials and inset date wheel, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass casing and an individually numbered, flush mounted case back. ($495)
Throne Reason 1.0 Watch – $395
The Reason 1.0 Watch from Throne ($395) boasts all-black case, markers, and hand set that pay homage to the well-loved and very sold out Brooklyn 1.5 model. We love the understated nature of the design of this watch from Throne and if you’re after a majestic, minimalist accessory for your wrist in 2019, you won’t go too far wrong with this one. With excellent materials and American made craftsmanship, it’s hard to believe you can get a timepiece of this calibre for under $500.
