If you like your watches bonkers and eye-wateringly expensive (but also awesome, of course) then URWERK are a watchmaker that you’ll likely be familiar with. One of their latest offering, the UR-105, is one of their most technically impressive timepieces to date and boasts a whole host of features which horology aficionados will be bowled over by.
For this visually arresting timepiece, the watchmakers have revised URWERK’s iconic satellite indication, which has been an emblematic and instantly recognizable signature element of the brand for almost two decades now. The URWERK UR-105 Watch ($86k) has a wandering hour indication based on a carousel that carries the four satellites, each bearing three numerals for the hours. The hours successively sweep past the minutes scale for an analogue and digital display of the time.
Out of this World Aesthetics
For the UR-105 from URWERK, four satellites, successively reveal themselves from under a sublime guilloche black cover in PEEK (PolyEtherEtherketone) and at the heart of UR-105 time display, four forged-aluminium satellites slowly orbit. Each of these satellites is visible during their 60-minute journey along the minute scale.
The URWERK UR-105 Watch ($86k) has two turbines visible on the back of the case which are coupled to the rotor in order to regulate the winding system of the watch. The carousel is a critical component of this mind-blowing timepiece and is crafted from ARCAP, which has been treated with ruthenium then micro-bead blasted for a robust performance day in, day out.
Watches like this don’t come along every day and though the aesthetic of the timepieces from URWERK might not be to everyone’s liking, we’re big fans here at Coolector HQ – especially of the visually astounding UR-105. If you’ve got incredibly deep pockets and looking for a real head-turning timepiece this summer, look no further.
