We love it when furniture has more than meets the eye here at Coolector HQ and using innovative design and no shortage of first class craftsmanship, that’s exactly what we have on our hands with the brilliant looking Westmore Chamber Desk by CK Goff.
On the face of it, this might appear a relatively straight forward desk but, in actuality, it is anything but. The Westmore Chamber Desk was commissioned to be crafted by a Melbourne based barrister and is made from solid American oak and put together by hand by CK Goff in his workshop in Australia.
The design inspiration for the desk comes from mid-century furniture and Japanese architecture and though it seems like it is a simple, two drawer layout, it actually has a secret third drawer in the centre of the desk which is activated by knowing a set configuration of a cigar box placed on the desktop which when aligned correctly, will provide a satisfying clunk and the third, secret, drawer will swing open. Check out a few more shots below:
With a devilishly clever design, fantastic craftsmanship and that great little element of surprise, there’s nothing not to like or appreciate with the Westmore Chamber Desk. Measuring 1800mm long, 850mm wide and 740mm high, it definitely provides plenty of surface area as a workspace and, aesthetically speaking, it is difficult to top.
